We’ve upgraded Master - our most capable IoT module

Comodule Master v10 IoT hardware for e-bikes and e-scooters

Master - the pinnacle of IoT devices

Our most capable IoT module is called Master. As the name indicates, the Master module offers premium features for outstanding connectivity and gives riders or fleet operators total control over the vehicle. It’s suitable for mobility companies who want advanced IoT features but need custom integration to the bike frame and drivetrain. The master module connects seamlessly to Comodule Companion App and Control Center, or your front-end software via an SDK or API integration.

So what makes Master so great? It enables you to:

  • Monitor vehicle data - keep track of bike usage and plan the bike’s maintenance accordingly. All data is securely streamed to the cloud and easily accessible via Companion App and Manufacturer Control Center.

  • Control the e-bike - riders can choose suitable riding settings, for example, how much motor assistance is provided, set power limiters, and so on. The possibilities for personalizing the ride depending on the drivetrain.

  • Theft defense - locate and track e-bikes at all times. In case the bike is being tampered with, a movement alert is sent to the owner’s phone.

  • Constantly renew the e-bike - manufacturers can update the e-bike’s firmware with over-the-air updates.

  • Extend the feature set even further - IoT enables control of multiple accessories such as locks, lights, and alarm systems. They can be added to work in unison with the IoT.

  • Communicate efficiently - as a manufacturer, you can send notifications directly to your rider's phones, for example, maintenance reminders or notifications about upcoming community events. Meanwhile, riders can send service tickets directly through the app for faster troubleshooting.

A universal design that fits all use cases

When it comes to hardware, firmware, and interfaces we have thought about different micromobility use cases and Master IoT can enable them all.

Master’s hardware has a wide power range (9-60V) to connect to all relevant drivetrains. The module has multiple ports to connect 3rd party devices and a buffer battery to autonomously communicate with the rider even if the main battery is out. It’s possible to design a custom casing to fit the needs of your bike models.

The firmware enables all relevant micromobility use cases, whether you are a manufacturer, shared vehicle operator, or run a private fleet. We are experienced with integrating all relevant drivetrains.

The connectivity ecosystem is secure (99% service uptime) and supports global coverage. Whatever the use case or drivetrain, you still get all the data from the same API, meaning there are fewer integration efforts to roll out new bike models.

Master version 10

The first Master was developed and manufactured in 2014. Since then we have continuously improved and upgraded it. We’ve now launched the 10th version of Master, our most advanced module to date. How is Master version 10 better than its predecessors?

  • Easier to integrate - With v10 we have improved the speed of integrations. The necessary hardware is there from the beginning and the module’s capability is controlled by a more modular firmware.

  • Connect more accessories - with the Master v10 it’s possible to connect more 3rd party devices to the IoT. Whether it’s locks, lights, or a buzzer, IoT acts as the central control system for them all.

  • More future-proof - the components and chips used to manufacture the v10 module are more available, therefore it’s easier to plan ahead.

The new version of Master is now in mass production and the first vehicles empowered by the new module are launching soon. Vehicles that are currently using the previous Master version can upgrade to the new version and get the full v10 experience by mid-2023. The switch to the new version is seamless as Master v10 fits into the same casing as V9. The mechanical integration is the same but the technology in it is more capable.
