Bike ride stats automatically available after every ride
In the competitive world of e-bike manufacturing, the bike itself is only half the story. Today’s riders don’t just want a smooth ride; they want a seamless ride. They want to know how far they’ve gone and how fast, and it would be nice if the bike does the thinking for you. Comodule's latest update to the Companion App, centered around automatic trip detection, is designed to do exactly that.
No "Start" button required
We know the drill, a rider jumps on their bike, starts pedaling, and halfway through the commute realizes they forgot to start their fitness tracker. It’s a minor frustration that breaks the seamless feel of a premium e-bike.
With automatic trip detection, the bike does the work. The system intelligently senses movement and records every journey, the rider doesn't need to push any buttons.
Effortless tracking so trips are detected and synced to the app automatically.
Rider is in control and maintains full privacy and autonomy, with the ability to enable or disable the feature directly from the app settings.
Granular ride statistics at all times
Our updated stats dashboard provides a deep dive into every pedal stroke. You can keep track of all rides and see insights of your movement.
Riders can now view:
Individual ride stats such as duration, distance, and the number of trips.
Environmental impact via a live calculation of CO2 saved, a "feel-good" metric that reinforces their choice to ride electric.
Time-based aggregation for users to track their progress across daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly views to see how their habits evolve over time.
Keeping track of the distance traveled also helps to know when it's time for bike maintenance. Once the rider hits 3000 km, it's definitely time to book a service.
The road ahead brings IoT data to the forefront
While tracking movement is the foundation, the real power of a connected bike lies in the data hidden within the frame. We asked Sten, our Product Manager, what the future holds for the Companion App’s data capabilities:
"Automatic trip detection is just the beginning. We are moving toward a full transparency model where the bike talks to the rider. The next step is integrating IoT GPS data and drive unit data directly into the trip summary. This means riders won't just see where they went, but how their motor performed, their battery health during the climb, and precise location mapping."
By unlocking this IoT data, bike manufacturers can offer a level of diagnostic and performance insight previously reserved for high-end automotive telematics.
More eyes on the app
For bike brands, these features aren't just perks, they are powerful tools for brand loyalty and data-driven insights. When riders engage with your branded app every day to check their stats, your brand remains at the center of their cycling lifestyle. In addition, having available data makes preventive bike maintenance a whole lot easier for both the rider and the maintenance service provider.
